Making a cancer diagnosis less overwhelming through visual storytelling
When someone receives an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis, they're flooded with medical terminology, treatment options, and life-altering decisions, all while processing the emotional weight of the diagnosis itself. Working with Eli Lilly's medical experts, I created an illustrated patient education course that walks patients through their journey using warm, human-centered visual narratives instead of clinical diagrams. The illustrations used metaphor and storytelling to explain complex oncology concepts like staging, treatment pathways, side effects, and emotional wellbeing, proving that patient education can deliver both medical accuracy and human compassion through narrative illustration.
